The AMVCAs were created to celebrate the contribution of African filmmakers, actors and technicians in the success of the continent’s film and television industry and with the success of the previous four editions, this year is sure to be the biggest and best award ceremony yet.
Anchored by Uti Nwachukwu and Kemi Lala-Akindoju, the glamorous show also thrilled guests to a series of Broadway performances featuring Gideon Okeke who reenacted the life and times of the great Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Adesua Etomi and A’rese, a show which earned great applause and standing ovation from the audience.
Steve Gukas does an amazing job and this is the kind of work that one does then goes to bed and rests well at night because even though we cannot be perfect, we can be near-perfect and 93 Days is near-perfect.
The essential feat of the film is what should undoubtedly become common practice in the Nigerian entertainment industry – the sociocultural documentation and preservation of life altering moments and events in the country for the sake of posterity and a heightened sense of social awareness and development.
