The Island: We watched the extravagant trailer of “The Island” in May. It features a star-studded cast. The show is created by Tola Odunsi and it promises to be quite the drama. “The Island will debut on Africa Magic later this year.
Bankers NGR: Produced by Mildred Okwo and Rita Dominic for the Audrey Silva Company, the upcoming TV series is created by Tunde Babalola (“The Meeting,” “October 1,” “Last Flight to Abuja,” “The CEO”) and follows the lives of bankers at a fictional bank called Sun Country Bank. We have gathered that the series will feature the struggles of succeeding in the corporate world, especially for women. It features a lot of new faces and should make its debut before the end of 2017.
On the Real: On the Real: (season 2 premiere) this edgy drama follows the lives of five young Nigerian reality TV stars, coming to terms with their fame and its pitfalls. It debuts on the 2nd of August on Ebony Life TV and features fast rising actresses, Nancy Isime and Ini-Dima Okojie. You wouldn’t want to miss this combination.
She Drives Me Nuts: Blessing Egbe returns with what promises to keep us hooked on our TV Screens with “She Drives Me Nuts”. We have seen a few teasers and there is a dramatic mother in-law, an over the top maid, a nuisance of a husband and a chaotic wife. It features the incredibly talented Lucy Ameh and Uzor Arukwe. Blessing Egbe understands drama and it is why we are excited about this.
Daily Motion: The original drama series Daily Motion, written, directed, and produced by Olayemi Champion-Odusola, brings you the believer’s story from its truest perspective. It promises to unveil intimate secrets, lies, and truths that threaten relationships and trust in God. The series stars Olayemi Champion-Odusola, Joseph Jaiyeoba, Olumide Oluwole, Ronke Adeyemi, they are not familiar names but interesting storyline. We will be looking out!
Fifty (The series): It was a mega success at the box office in 2015. Fifty featured Omoni Oboli, Dakore Egbuson, Ireti Doyle, Nse-Ikpe Etim and Wale Ojo. Akin Omotosho takes the seat to direct the series and if you are a fan of the director, you will know that he makes some exciting films. The pivotal days in the lives of four Nigerian women at the pinnacle of their careers come to our TV screens in August. Nse-Ikpe Etim is replaced with Keira Hewatch and it’s a switch we were not ready for, but we will definitely be watching. The series will premiere on Ebony Live TV on July 27th; so tune in to catch the pilot.
Sons of the Caliphate: is a political drama series based on the lives of three rich, entitled, passionate and ambitious young men, Kaliyah, Nuhu and Diko, all caught up in the hidden corners of power, the darkness of addiction, the heat of love and desire, the obligations of family loyalty, and the craving for revenge. It is created, written and produced by Dimbo and Karachi Atiya. It features Rahama Sadau, Mofe Duncan, Yakubu Mohammed and a host of others.
The second season of “The Sons of the Caliphate” screened at the EbonyLife TV and Film Festival holding in Lagos this month.
Relatives: We love family stories, and “Relatives” is a family story! Relatives is a comedy series about distant untraceable family members arriving at the doorstep of Wole and Lanre with notes from some other distant relative asking that they give them shelter for a particular length of time which becomes forever as the relatives do not leave. It is produced by Tunde Adegbola and directed by Femi Awojide. The series will star Dolapo Sijuwade, Bimbo Manuel, Chioma “Chigul” Omeruah, Gregory Ojefua, Toritseju Ejoh, and Stephen Damian.
Gidi Up, Season 3: The first teaser which promises a sexier, more dramatic, more scandalous happenings and wilder parties was released in January and for some reason, Ndani TV has been quite about Gidi Up since then, but this is also on our radar. The teaser which features some of the show’s old cast also features new additions including Bobrisky and Odunlade Adekola. The upcoming third season stars returning actors Deyemi Okanlawon, Daniel Effiong, OC Ukeje, Titilope Sonuga, Somkele Idhalama
