Ahead of the premiere of his debut movie as a producer, “It’s Her Day”, Bovi who first gained popularity for his acting skills after featuring in the sitcom, “Extended Family” which he also conceptualized and produced in 2007, recounts the undying love he has for film making despite his flourishing career as a stand-up comedian.

His foray into the entertainment industry, in 2004, after he worked as Richard Mofe Damijo’s Personal Assistant set the stage to delve into film production. “I started out as an actor. I have conquered the stage and film is the next stage for me. Film has always been in the picture,” he said. Bovi’s upcoming romantic movie, “It’s Her Day” is directed by Aniedi Anwah. Bovi basically featured new faces with the exception of Omoni Oboli and Amanda Ebeye.

The new faces include Ini Dima-Okojie, Shaffy Bello, Toni “Tones” Adefuye, Thelma Ezeamaka, Enajite Dede and Gregory Ojefua. Speaking on his preference for emerging faces in the industry, Bovi said, “ I am not a strong believer in the known faces, not because they can’t deliver their lines. I believe in good stories and it’s not that established actors don’t sell any more. We know they drive traffic to the cinemas.” He however allayed the fears that he might dump stand up comedy for film making. “I am not dumping stand up comedy. They are all my wives,”he said. The movie, which he describes as “the worst love story ever told,” is scheduled to hit the cinemas on the 9th of September.
