MOPICON: More Reactions From Nollywood

Chris Ihidero has described  fellow filmmaker, Charles Novia as an attention-seeking blogger with nothing but pedestrian opinions to offer.

Recently, Charles Novia wrote on the controversial Motion Picture Practitioners Council of Nigeria (MOPICON) Bill.

In the post titled “These Young filmmakers amongst us,” Novia described the young filmmakers as “up tarts” and “Artistic infantilism,” while likening their careers to “bubble gum”  see here: Charles Novia likens young filmmakers’ career to ‘bubble gum’

Reacting to the post, filmmaker Chris Ihidero described Charles Novia as an attention-seeking blogger with nothing but pedestrian opinions to offer.
Novia also responded to Ihidero’s tweets, which he described as ‘veiled insulting Tweets.”

The Motion Picture Practitioners Council of Nigeria (MOPPICON) Bill was created over 10 years ago after a group of industry practitioners sat to draft it.

Recently, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the inauguration of a Ministerial Committee aimed at fast-tracking the passage into law of the MOPPICON Bill.

Following the announcement, most filmmakers took to Twitter and various social media to protest, creating the hashtag #NoToMopicon
